Nominated as a Member of parliament and one of the NAVRATNAS for Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Sonal Mansingh is carrying forward the message of Swaccha, Swastha and Shreshtha Bharat through arts and culture all over the country.
She is an Indian classical dancer and a Padma Vibhushan awardee (2004). Sonal established a Centre for Indian Classical Dances in New Delhi and has trained several thousand students in dance, music, yoga, Sanskrit and cultural traditions of India.
Over the years, dance has taken her all over the world and brought her many awards, such as the Padma Bhushan (1992), Sangeet Natak Academi Award in 1987, and Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award.
She has been engaged many with social issues through Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Naatya-Katha (solo-dance theatre), lectures, workshops, and group choreographies.
Sonal is a popular key-note speaker at National and International conferences, seminars and symposiums and has written several articles on socio-cultural issues.
